Niklas Luman (alm. Niklas Luhmann; 8 dekabr 1927[…] – 6 noyabr 1998[…]) — alman sosioloqu, sosial sistemlər nəzəriyyəsinin banilərindən biri. O, mürəkkəb cəmiyyətlərin funksional bölünməsi, özünüistinadlılıq (autopoiesis) və kommunikasiya anlayışları əsasında cəmiyyətin strukturunun və funksiyalarının analizi ilə məşğul olmuşdur. Luman müasir sosiologiyanın ən təsirli nəzəriyyəçilərindən biri hesab olunur.

Niklas Luman , , , hüquq sosiologiyası və təhsil fəlsəfəsi sahələrinə ciddi təsir göstərmişdir. Onun nəzəriyyələri geniş tətbiq olunmaqdadır və müasir cəmiyyətlərin təhlilində mühüm alət hesab olunur.
Bioqrafiyası
Niklas Luman 8 dekabr 1927-ci ildə , Aşağı Saksoniya, Almaniyada anadan olmuşdur.İkinci Dünya müharibəsində qısa müddət hərbi xidmət keçdikdən sonra hüquq təhsili almış və dövlət qulluğunda çalışmışdır. Daha sonra o, Harvard Universitetində rəhbərliyi altında sosiologiya üzrə təhsilini davam etdirmişdir. Almaniyaya döndükdən sonra Bilefeld Universitetində akademik fəaliyyət göstərmiş və 1970–1993-cü illər arasında burada sosiologiya kafedrasının professoru olmuşdur.
Lumanın əsas elmi nailiyyəti . Bu nəzəriyyəyə görə, cəmiyyət bir-biri ilə qarşılıqlı əlaqədə olan alt sistemlərdən — iqtisadiyyat, hüquq, elm, din, təhsil və s. — ibarətdir. Hər bir alt sistem müəyyən bir kommunikasiya kodu vasitəsilə fəaliyyət göstərir (məsələn, hüquq – qanuni/qeyri-qanuni, elm – doğru/səhv və s.).
Luman bu sistemi funksional diferensiallaşma prinsipi əsasında izah etmişdir. Onun fikrincə, sistemlər öz-özünü yaradan (autopoetik) strukturlardır və yalnız kommunikasiya vasitəsilə mövcud ola bilərlər.

Niklas Luman 6 noyabr 1998-ci ildə , Almaniyada vəfat etmişdir. Onun ölümündən sonra da nəzəri irsi fəal şəkildə öyrənilir və müzakirə olunur.
