Spokan (ing. Spokane) — Amerika Birləşmiş Ştatlarının Vaşinqton ştatında yerləşən şəhər. Ştatın şimal-şərqində, sahilində yerləşir və inzibati mərkəzidir. Əhali sayına görə Vaşinqton ştatının ən böyük ikinci şəhəridir. Şəhərin adı yerli götürülmüşdür və onların dilində “günəşin uşaqları” mənasını verir.

Tarixi

Spokan bölgəsi min illərlə yerli amerikalı tərəfindən məskunlaşmışdır. Bu tayfalar əsasən Spokan çayının ətrafında yerləşir, ovçuluq, balıqçılıq və toplayıcılıqla məşğul olurdular. Onlar su samuru, qızılbalıq, maral və yerli bitkilərlə qidalanırdılar. Spokanlar özlərini "Slkʷíʔwił" (yəni “günəşin uşaqları”) adlandırırdılar.
