Epton Bill Sinkler 20 sentyabr 1878-ci ildə Merilend ştatının Baltimor şəhərində anadan olmuşdur. "Cəngəllik" (1905), "Paytaxt" (1908), "Məhəbbət sınağı" (1911), "Silviya" (1913), "Silviyanın ərə getməsi" (1914) və s. romanlarında ictimai-tənqidi motivlər güclüdür. "Kral Kömür" (1917), "Cimmi Higgins" (1919) romanlarında sosializm ideyalarını, Böyük Oktyabr sosialist inqilabını müdafiə etmişdir. Antifaşist əsərlər ("Avtomobil kralı", 1937 və s.) yazmışdır. Lenni Bedd haqqında epopeyasının (kitab 1–11, 1940–1953) son kitablarında "soyuq müharibə" əhvali-ruhiyyəsi əksini tapmışdır. Ömrünün son illərində nüvə müharibəsi təhlükəsi əleyhinə çıxmış, SSRİ-yə rəğbətini bildirmişdir. Epton Sinkler 25 noyabr 1968-ci ildə Nyu-Cersi ştatının Baund Bruk şəhərində vəfat etmişdir.
