Wenrich (1924) reports one flagellate and seven ciliates from the skin of tadpoles, and Sassuchin (1928) has added a list of species which he has found in the slime of the tadpole skin. These in themselves do not appear to be patho- genic but they are often accompanied by a growth of mold which causes great injury. Among the ciliates in the intestines of tadpoles and frogs the opalinids are perhaps the most common. These have a ciliated body, several nuclei, but no mouth.
